Mrs. Prada is, without a doubt, one of the most gifted and celebrated designers of 21st century. Arguably the most formative moments of her career came in 1984 with the launch of the Vela Backpack and a new innovative range of Nylon garments which challenged the aesthetics of luxury at the time. The success of the Nylon line was only the beginning of Miuccia Prada’s rise to innovator status in the fashion sphere.
Fast forward to 2025, Prada remains at the cutting edge of style, sustainability, and most importantly innovation through projects like the Prada Re-Nylon initiative, first launching in 2019. This project transforms discarded plastic waste from ocean ecosystems into recycled nylon that is then used to create contemporary Prada pieces.

In collaboration with National Geographic CreativeWorks, Prada has released a four-part documentary series starring actors Sadie Sink and Benedict Cumberbatch. The docuseries gives viewers an intimate look into the process of Re-Nylon and the environmental impact of plastic in oceans.
The Prada Re-Nylon collection pays homage to iconic bag designs from the archives like the 1978 Nylon Backpack, 1995 Chaîne Re-Nylon tote bag, and 2005 Re-Nylon Shoulder Bag. Spanning ready-to-wear pieces to small accessories like hair clips and bag charms—the collection embodies the quintessential Prada-isms that we’ve all come to know and love, executed through a thoughtful production process.
A portion of the proceeds from the Prada Re-Nylon for SEA BEYOND Collection directly supports SEA BEYOND, an educational program developed in partnership with UNESCO‘s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission with the goal of emphasizing ocean preservation.
